President's Points

PictureDr. Roger D. Mardis, President
I recall being in a pastor’s meeting prior to the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020 and telling the group that I was worried for the days ahead.  As a pastor I knew that missed Sundays meant missed revenue.  Now, our churches were looking at extended weeks not meeting and in fact our entire country would soon shut down.  Slowly but sure, we began to open up and we started to re-gather in our houses of worship.

An amazing thing happened during the shutdown; not only did our church offerings not decrease – they actually went up!  Wait. What?

My concern was also for 501 (c) (3) organizations like FON.  With all of the economic and financial uncertainty, what was going to happen to our donors and our donations?  Would people be scared and stop giving?  Will travel as we’ve known it ever resume?  Will NBS be able to gather?  How are our students doing?

We are beginning to get answers for these and so many other questions.  Let me summarize:
  • God has been faithful to meet the financial needs of FON and NBS
  • Our donors have continued to be a blessing.  In fact, our base is increasing!
  • Travel is now resuming.  Early indications are that 2022 will be a full-on “Go”.  (Stay tuned!)
  • NBS actually did great during the shutdown and “virtual” learning season but we are now meeting in person on our campus
  • NBS students are so excited to be back in class and they are ready for a “normal” year (aren’t we all!)

God has been good, faithful, and He has been working in response to your prayers.  Thank you dear friends.

We now turn our attention to a new year and many new opportunities.  FON has a new Executive Director, we are blessed with some new Board members, and we have a brand new schedule (with some new partners) for 2022. (Look at other pages of this site for all of our 2022 opportunities). Would you like to join us or be involved?  Send me an email or give me a call soon and let’s discuss.

Thank you for purchasing my book, Peaks and Pits.  As you know, I donate all the proceeds from the sale of this book to our work in Nazareth. If you haven’t picked up a copy I hope you will do so soon.

As I’ve told you so many times before; don’t forget to Pray, Participate (in a FON event), Promote (our schedule, opportunities, needs), and Provide. These are exciting days and we need to stay faithful and diligent.

Thank you so much for all you do.

Blessings,

Dr. Roger D. Mardis, President
Friends of Nazareth

Note:  I would love to visit your church or school in 2022.  I am beginning to fill the calendar for next year; give me a call today.
