Interns must be 18 years of age or older. The program begins on June 18, 2019 and concludes on August 10, 2019. Applicants must be able to serve for the entire period; partial internships are not permitted.
Interns will arrive in Israel on June 19, 2019. The schedule is:
June 19. Transfer from TLV to ServeNazareth Programme in Nazareth. Serve is located at the English Hospital. Each intern will stay in a multi-person flat (apartment) that has a living space, bedroom, kitchen, including a washer, and a bathroom.
June 20-29. Interns will have an orientation session with Serve and will be assigned to various service projects, usually, at the hospital or Nazareth Village.
June 30. Friends of Nazareth will host a VBS/Day Camp orientation and training session. Attendance is required.
July 1-5. VBS/Day Camp, Week 1.
July 8-12. VBS/Day Camp, Week 2.
July 15-19. VBS/Day Camp, Week 3.
July 20-26. Touring and service with ServeNazareth.
July 27. Check out of ServeNazareth.

August 9. Depart Baptist Village. Tour with the departing team and board the return flight for home.
August 10. Arrive in USA or country of origin.
The application process has two parts.
Part 1. Complete the application with Friends of Nazareth (FON). FON conducts background checks and personal interviews. FON passes to ServeNazareth the applications of those that it approves.
Part 2. You will be asked to complete an application at Serve's website and the second step will begin. DO NOT COMPLETE THE SERVE APPLICATION UNTIL YOU RECEIVE FON'S APPROVAL. As part of the Serve application, FON approved applicants are to send three written references to ServeNazareth. Serve will set up a Skype interview with the applicant. Serve makes the final decision about whether or not the applicant is approved.
Summary: Applicants must be approved by both organizations. This takes about 60 days. FON will notify you when your application is accepted and will forward the information to ServeNazareth.
Please note that each traveler is responsible for making her or his individual payments. Travelers are invited to use the Managed Missions Public Profile (like www.gofundme.com) and/or write donor letters. It is not the responsibility of FON to raise the funds for each traveler. Donors in the USA may receive tax credit for supporting Friends of Nazareth on a team member’s behalf if Friends of Nazareth maintains control of the receipts. A donor may request that his or her donation be applied to the expenses of a person's travel expenses. This request must be in writing. Donations must be made to Friends of Nazareth. The statement that the donor wants the funds directed to the traveler must be on a separate sheet of paper, not written in the For line on the check. The check or money order must be sent to Friends of Nazareth, 3482 Keith Bridge Road, #215, Cumming, GA 30041. Donations above the amount of the trip are not refundable to the traveler or to the donor. They become funds for the Friends of Nazareth ministry.
There are four types of payments:
Payment 1. A $300 non-refundable reservation fee is due at time of application. INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED until February 15, 2019. The reservation fee is applied toward the amount due FON for lodging, transportation, meals, etc.
Payment 2. Airline ticket. The price of tickets varies. FON will notify the intern applicant, as soon as the application and reservation fees are received, how to purchase the airline ticket. All USA interns must leave the USA from the same airport on the same flight, unless pre-arranged with FON. There will most likely be interns departing from various cities, but before leaving the USA, all interns will meet at the place of departure. Please note, the earlier that the intern purchases her or his ticket, the ticket will most likely be cheaper. Later purchases often cost travelers an extra $800-$1000.
Payment 3. $2100 (Cost: $300 + 2100 =$2400 Total). This fee includes transportation from TLV to ServeNazareth, lodging for the duration of the time in Nazareth, meals as provided by ServeNazareth, other meals that FON provides, and some touring. Out-of-the-ordinary expenses, such as a hotel, if needed on the day of departure and taxi for the return. This fee of $2100.00 can be paid from funds that are donated on the intern's behalf. ALL FUNDS ARE DUE TO FON ON OR BEFORE APRIL 15, 2019.
Payment 4. Discretionary spending. Most interns spend about $100-120 week for incidentals. Therefore, each will need about $1000 for discretionary spending. It is best to have a debit card and use the local ATMs. This money can be earned after the deadline for the payment to FON.
Total Cost. The internship costs for ten weeks are about $5000, depending upon the cost of the flight and personal spending.
Please Note: Payments DO NOT cover the cost of a Passport, travel insurance, local bus and/or taxi, touring outside of what is provided by ServeNazareth or FON.
FON uses the Managed Mission App to manage mission trips. The application is available at 2018 FON Intern Application .
